Halloween II (2) Film Opening Analysis

We establish the genre of Horror through the conventions of a typical Horror film, death occurs as a theme within the first 4 seconds of this film, this suggests to an audience that it could be either supernatural or will involve the intrusion of an evil force, event, or personage. The fast paced non-diegetic music builds tension throughout the first two minutes. Creating a scary vibe that usually sticks until the end of a Horror film. As the title credits appear the fast paced music is infused with organ music, associating the film with an old-fashioned, big, scary house, or something in parallel to this. Orange text on a black background base colour suggests that this film is entirely set on the idea of Halloween being the spookiest night of the year, as does the title of the film 'Halloween'. Furthering this, a pumpkin is featured to the left of the text about half-way through the initial opening credit sequence, the face of the pumpkin is carved to appear scary, sticking to the theme of Halloween being really scary. The perfect setting for a horror/thriller film. The candle lights flickering in the pumpkins eyes shows darkness, foreshadowing that this film is mainly going to be set in the darkness. Which is another convention of the Horror genre. The music is very much similar to the first sequel of this film, 'Halloween', almost identical, although this carry-on has the added twist of organ music to emphasise the spookiness. This shows us that this film is going to be very much like the first one, 'Halloween', establishing the genre of horror/thriller further.

What will we need? And Genre

What will we need?
a camera, location(s), actors/actresses, props, costume, make-up

Possible Genre's: horror, thriller, romance, comedy, drama, action
I like the idea of horror with the sub-genre of drama, this would mean that we need make-up as blood and scary looking characters are associated with horror. We also need a good location, this is important because drama is usually associated with pretty settings, usually in the country, rather than a busy town. However, these still feature but the main setting is most commonly quieter.

Associated with horror; blood, killing, weapons, make-up, costume, weird location, animals, characters with unusual features and masks.
